The Uddingston Community Council provides Micro Grants to support local initiatives within the community. These grants are made possible through the South Lanarkshire Renewable Energy Fund.

What are Micro Grants?
Micro Grants are designed to offer financial support to individuals and small local groups with modest funding needs. The application process for Micro Grants is quick and straightforward and is administered by the Uddingston Community Council.

How much can I apply for?
You can apply for a maximum of £500.

Who is eligible for Micro Grants?
Micro Grants are available to both constituted and non-constituted local groups and, where applicable, individuals.
Individuals must be living in the Uddingston Community Council area.
You can check if an individual’s or an organisation’s address sits within the area of Uddingston Community Council by entering the postcode at https://www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk/info/200168/getting_involved_in_your_community/594/community_councils.
If the postcode is not found you can find out which community council it does reside in by performing an address search at https://www.communitycouncils.scot/community-council-finder.

Application Process
To apply for a Micro Grant, please download and complete offline the provided application form available at the end of this page and return to uddcomm@gmail.com.

Application Deadline
There is no fixed closing date for Micro Grant applications. We will continue to accept applications until the annual allocation of funds has been exhausted.

Decision Timeline
We will promptly inform you of the outcome of your application once a decision has been made. The processing timeline depends on the timing of community council meetings. Please note that applications submitted immediately before a meeting may be considered at the subsequent meeting.

Eligibility

Micro Grants can be sought for community-focused or charitable activities that:

  • Improve the quality of life for local residents
  • Contribute to the creation of vibrant, healthy, successful, and sustainable communities
  • Promote community spirit and encourage community engagement

Activities Not Supported

Micro Grants cannot be used for:

  • Projects that do not directly benefit the residents within the Uddingston community.
  • Advancement of religious or political causes.
  • Purchasing second-hand vehicles.
  • Repaying loans or settling debts.
  • Costs already incurred or activities that will take place before a decision on the application.
  • Payments for areas typically under the responsibility of statutory authorities.
  • Initiatives solely benefiting flora and fauna. Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate the direct community benefit in such cases.
  • Activities opposing wind farm or renewable energy initiatives.

Additional Information

  • Applicants are limited to one Micro Grant at a time.
  • If your application is successful, you may reapply for another Micro Grant after 12 months unless exceptional circumstances lead to a waiver of this rule.
  • In the event of an unsuccessful application, you may reapply immediately.
  • Any Micro Grant received must be utilised within one year of the award.
  • Receiving a Micro Grant does not hinder constituted, not-for-profit groups and organisations from applying for grants from other programs, provided they are not supporting the same project or activity.
  • Please be aware that demand for Micro Grants may exceed the available funding, and not all applications will be successful.
