The Sheddings Eyesore

This topic covers ongoing concerns regarding the condition and appearance of the site known locally as The Sheddings, including its impact on visual amenity, environmental concerns, enforcement history and any actions that may help secure improvement.

This issue was first raised in 2019/20 due to the condition of the site known as The Sheddings and its impact on the appearance of a key approach into Uddingston. Since then, enforcement action has been pursued by Glasgow City Council, including formal notices and an appeal process, with the appeal ultimately dismissed. More recently, Uddingston Community Council has continued to press for progress, including a site visit in May 2025 and follow-up requests for clarification on the current status of enforcement, what action may still be possible on different parts of the site, and what further steps can be taken. The issue remains ongoing.
